First Reconciliation or Penance

reconciliation-image

Dear Parents

Thank you for expressing your desire to have your child celebrate their First Reconciliation or First Penance at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The celebration of Penance is an important part of their preparation for First Holy Communion and normally takes place in Year Three.

In order to help your child understand the significance of this occasion, it is, of course, necessary for them to complete a period of preparation and formation. If your child is attending a Catholic school they will learn about the sacrament in class. If they are not attending a Catholic school the parish offers extra classes to prepare them. Please contact the parish office as early in the year as possible for more information.

The Cathedral parish is committed to safeguarding. Please talk to children taking part in our programs about the Code of Conduct which helps us keep everyone safe.
